Arslan Basharat, Ph.D

Assistant Director of Computer Vision at Kitware

Dr. Arslan Basharat is currently serving as Assistant Director of Computer Vision at Kitware, Inc., where he has been working on various artificial intelligence (AI) and computer vision research and development projects for over 14 years. He is currently serving as the PI on DARPA In the Moment and Semantic Forensics programs. He has also served as a PI on several other projects over the years including DAPRA Media Forensics (MediFor), AFRL E2AT and CETE, ONR Scylla, and a few SBIR and STTR contracts. On MediFor, he led the transition of satellite imagery forensics tools to NGA Research through the VIGILANT platform. He has led various R&D projects involving computer vision, image forensics, natural language processing, large language models, and AI. He received an M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Central Florida in 2006 and 2009, respectively. Further details available at
